Comet All-Stars Show Us Why This NJ Gym Shines

If you have a dream, you can make it come true. Just ask Vincent and Jo-Anne Sangiovanni, owners of Comet All-Stars in East Brunswick, NJ. Their motto’s always been, “If you can believe it, you can achieve it!” They never second-guessed opening up their own cheer gym, and even though there will always be good and bad days when it comes to owning your own business, Vincent and Jo-Anne say the enjoyment that the athletes get out of this sport makes it all worth it.
The couple’s cheer venture started in 2003, when they decided they wanted to create a safe practice environment for athletes. The Comets started out as a highly competitive Pop Warner team and eventually turned into an all-star program that’s won over 150 national titles. Today they have 171 athletes in their program and 175 students enrolled in weekly classes. And not only does the facility provide a home for their teams, but it’s also become a popular practice space for both the NBA Spirit Squad (which includes both cheer and dance teams) and over 40 high school, Pop Warner and recreational teams. “Overall, our cheerleaders enjoy the amount of space in the facility, and they’re able to practice and not be crowded on top of each other” say the owners.
